Music Protest Optimize Your Music Production Workflow with Cubase Logical Editor [TUTORIAL]
From managing tracks to massive time-saving shortcuts, Cubase Pro’s Logical Editor (for MIDI) and the Project Logical Editor (for Projects) can perform tedious, repetitive tasks and help you get back to you uninterrupted workflow. Often, the best way to design your own presets in the Logical Editors is to start by looking at the factory presets. In this course, you’ll learn how to do that as well as learn how to integrate traditional macros with Logical Editor and PLE presets for even more time-savings. You’ll learn how to trigger presets and macros from a remote MIDI control and we’ll look at an example for extracting specific MIDI events to a new track when composing new music! This course will wrap-up with a project focused on bringing all that you’ll learn under one project, so that you can take ownership of these powerful tools moving forward. Project Instructions
Once you’ve completed the course videos, you’ll be ready to design your own Logical Editor and Project Logical Editor presets. This project has 4 main steps to walk you through the process and ensure that you get real value out of your effort. Here’s what you should do next:
Build Your Own Preset: e.g. Select Tracks with Events:
- Check out existing presets from the LE and PLE factory presets. Check out video #5 (“Designing Your Own”) for a refresher on this step
- Modify existing presets to match your needs
- Your preset can do anything Cubase can do!
- Don’t forget that you can build multiple presets and fire them all together inside a macro (for example one preset to select tracks and another preset to execute transformations)
Selecting tracks with events is just a suggestion for a preset (which I outline in video #11), but ultimately you need presets that save you time. So, start with a repetitive task you do all the time (exporting, adjusting MIDI velocities, copying CC to automation or vice versa). Build presets that save you from mundane, tedious tasks first – that is exactly where the greatest value in the Logical Editor and PLE lies!
