Behringer Crave Bundle by Anton Anru
The Bundle consists of “Progressive” (35 patches), “Techno Jam” (64 bass sequences), “Melodic Patterns” (64 melodic sequences) “Probability” (20 patches + Sequences), “Expressive Bass” (10 patches).
In “Progressive” soundset I tried to get the most interesting timbres out of Crave.
It may seem that a single Oscillator, Filter, simple Envelope and LFO can’t do too much. But experiments with the patchbay give a wide range of sounds. Some timbres are supposed to be played on a keyboard. For others it’s better to use Arp or Seq. But, of course, you’re free to experiment.
There are mild and soft timbres, as well as wild and noisy.
The bank consists of 35 patches:
- 15 Leads
- 9 Plucks
- 1 Percussion
- 5 Sequences
- 5 FXs
“Techno Jam” is a collection of 64 bass sequences for different subgenres of Techno, Minimal, House, Progressive: Acid, Deep, Rave, Dub, Tribal, Hardcore, Industrial, Dark, Electro, etc.
Try different BPMs, Envelope and Filter settings to get a wide range of results.
The length of the sequences is up to 32 steps, including “odd” length (e.g. 14, 18 and so on) for polyrhythmic grooves.
Each sequence is thoroughly set: Gate Length, Ratchet, Glide, Accent.
“Melodic Patterns” is a collection of 64 sequences with different styles and moods. The patterns are great for leads, plucks, generative patches, basses (if you transpose them quite low). There are many patches/presets for Behringer Crave on my website, they can be nicely used in pair with these patterns.
«Probability» is a collection of 20 generative patches and sequences. This genre of sound design is very popular inside modular culture, and Crave suggests a good set of features to enter this club.
Controlled chaos and randomness, probability, non-repetitiveness, tempo break, pattern uniqueness, short and long sounds alternation, unexpected changes, silence and density, harmonic and fx-like tones, freaky splashes during a sequence – all these things are included in the soundset.
“Expressive Bass” soundset is devoted to bass lines and Crave gives great opportunities to it.
All this patches are supposed to be used in pair with the internal sequencer as the they are based on the sequencer parameters, like Gate Time, Accent, Slide, Hold, Reset, and others.
The patches with Assign Out have recommendation on which Assign source to choose.
